LD30 debate recap

GOP candidates in ranch-heavy western Arizona back Trump’s beef plan “The problem isn’t what’s coming in, it’s what we’re not producing,” Gannuscio said. “And the president’s trying to bring that beef in, and make it easier for ranchers to retain their heifers and grow their ranches bigger,” Republican candidate Mike Gannuscio said.

He owns Mohave Traffic Survival School, holds a business degree from the University of Arizona and lists acting work with SAG-AFTRA. Official Website

Mike Gannuscio is a rancher who led the Arizona Cattle Growers Association, and who says he also worked as a Mohave County law enforcement officer. He topped a five-way Republican primary in July. He backed President Trump's plan to import ground beef to cut prices, a position the national cattle industry's largest groups opposed, and told debate moderators he would vote against a clean renewal of Proposition 123 because he wants to know where school money goes.

Brian McMahan

Democrat · House

Official Website

Brian McMahan is a former fire chief for the Parker and Buckskin fire districts and the only Democrat on the LD30 House ballot, having run unopposed in the July primary. Ballotpedia lists no occupation, education or campaign finance for him. He says the Legislature's failure to curb fraud in the school voucher program is a reason he is running, citing gift cards and custom tires bought with ESA money, and he wants a moratorium on new data centers.
