Arizona · 2026 General Election

One state.
Big questions.
Your ballot.

Welcome to the 2026 general election cycle, where some of the biggest political questions in Arizona will be answered at the ballot box.

Is this the year Democrats take over the Legislature? Are voters mad enough at President Donald Trump to punish Republicans? Do voters want to punish Gov. Katie Hobbs for her prolific use of the veto stamp?

We won’t find out until Nov. 3. In the meantime, you can get caught up on the races by browsing our Elections Hub.

The State Desk

Statewide races

Who will set Arizona’s direction?

Arizona’s statewide offices are held by members of both major parties. Democrats won the governor, attorney general, and secretary of state races in 2022, while Republicans won the state treasurer and superintendent of public instruction races. Incumbent superintendent Tom Horne lost the 2026 Republican primary to Kimberly Yee, so the general election will select a new superintendent.

The Federal Desk

Congressional races

Arizona’s voice in Washington.

Arizona has nine seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, each elected for a two-year term. Republicans currently hold the House majority. Voters in each Arizona congressional district will choose their representative in November. Legislative districts

The balance of power starts close to home.

Republicans currently hold majorities in both chambers of the Arizona Legislature: 33–27 in the House and 17–13 in the Senate. Arizona’s 30 legislative districts each elect one senator and two representatives. All 90 seats are on the ballot in 2026. Voters will choose the lawmakers responsible for the state budget and legislation on issues including education, housing, and water.
