Analise Ortiz

Analise Ortiz was a reporter at the Arizona Republic and an ACLU of Arizona campaign strategist before winning a state House seat in 2022 and a Senate seat in 2024. She has sponsored more than 100 bills since 2023, nearly all killed without a hearing; one 2025 law lets construction crews start at 5 a.m. in summer. In 2026 she ran No Safe Seats, raising money to beat moderate Democrats in primaries, including two newcomers who won her district's House nominations.

Frank Steele is a certified public accountant and director of cybersecurity at Charles Schwab who chairs the Legislative District 24 Republican committee. He has not run for office before. Then-U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko entered a tribute to his work as chairman into the Congressional Record in 2024. At the September 29 Clean Elections debate he broke with most Republicans by backing an income cap on school vouchers, saying a family earning $400,000 should not get one.

Democrat · House
Alberto Flores is making his first run for office. He spent three years with the Arizona Reproductive Alliance and interned with the Department of Child Safety during the 2024 legislative session. Backed by Sen. Analise Ortiz's No Safe Seats effort, he was the top vote-getter in the four-way July 21 Democratic primary, helping oust incumbent Rep. Lydia Hernandez. He has said he entered politics fighting Sheriff Joe Arpaio's immigration crackdown and that his parents came to the country illegally.

Lisbeth Arescurenaga is a counselor making her first run for office. She holds an associate degree from Mesa Community College, a bachelor's from Arizona State University and a graduate degree earned in 2024. Backed by Sen. Analise Ortiz's No Safe Seats fundraising effort, she finished second in the four-way July 21 Democratic primary, helping oust incumbent Rep. Lydia Hernandez. She has said she came from Peru at 15 and lived in the country without legal status for seven years.

Delores McLaughlin
Republican · House
Delores McLaughlin, a first-time candidate, taught communication at Estrella Mountain Community College and holds a doctorate from Grand Canyon University. She is a precinct committeeman and was unopposed in the Republican primary. At the September 29 Clean Elections debate she said Arizona should not bar local police from cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and that she would vote for Proposition 316, which caps city grocery taxes. Her campaign site says she continues her family's tradition of pastoral service.
