Racquel Armstrong is an assistant professor at Arizona State University's Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation who taught in public schools and worked as an administrator before moving into higher education. She is a Democratic precinct committeeman and has not held elected office. She says Democrats lost a House seat here in 2024 because they missed the mark on affordability, and she wants the state to keep building data centers but to site them more carefully.

Educational Investment: I am committed to ensuring every student, from preschool through higher education, has access to quality education and the resources they need to succeed. Attainable Housing and Cost of Living: Addressing housing affordability and the rising cost of living is a top priority, so families and workers can thrive without being overburdened. Workforce Development & Economic Growth: I aim to expand opportunities for workers to gain the skills they need to succeed in good-paying jobs while supporting sustainable economic growth.

Professional Experience

  • I am a former teacher, school administrator, and a current professor of education at ASU. After winning the Harry S. Truman Scholarship for public service in 2009, I became a public-school teacher. I taught English and Mathematics while also coaching Track & Field, instilling students with discipline and a drive for excellence. After five years in the classroom, I became a school administrator. I then transitioned to higher education after eight years as a K-12 administrator. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching & Learning Innovation.

  • BA in Urban Studies-Economics from Wellesley College, a MSEd from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from the Fisher College of Business, and a PhD from The Ohio State University.
