Blurred blue lines: Democrat Amish Shah scored an endorsement from the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Arizona, which picked him over Republican rival Jay Feely in Arizona’s Congressional District 1, the New Times’ Morgan Fischer reports. The association’s executive director said the organization didn’t have anything against Feely, it just liked Shah’s voting record and his willingness to listen to their concerns. It’s relatively rare for the association to endorse Democrats, but it did endorse Shah in 2022, alongside Democrat Ruben Gallego, the same year it endorsed President Donald Trump. This time, the other candidate the association endorsed was Republican U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani. (August 21, 2026)

Step right up: The list of third-tier candidates vying to take the seat of Congressman Raúl Grijalva is growing, but no big-name Democrats have been officially announced yet. As of Tuesday night, 13 candidates had filed statements of interest to run in Southern Arizona’s Congressional District 7, but not Adelita Grijalva or Adrian Fontes, though the rumor mill has both filing soon. Meanwhile, we’re already seeing polling in the Democratic primary to challenge Republican U.S. Rep. David Schweikert in CD1. Democrat Amish Shah, the 2024 nominee, is way ahead of Marlene Galán Woods, the third-place finisher in the crowded 2024 Democratic primary, per Shah’s own polling. As the Republic’s Laura Gersony recently noted, the 2026 Democratic primary in Schweikert’s district is looking like another crowded race. (March 19, 2025)

Cops <3 Amish: A second law enforcement union has endorsed Democrat Amish Shah over Republican and former NFL kicker Jay Feely in the race to represent Scottsdale and Phoenix in Congress, Zach Buchanan reports for Axios. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Law Enforcement Association said the endorsement was largely based on the union’s “long-standing history” of working with Shah at the Arizona Legislature and not out of concern about Feely. Last week, Shah was also endorsed by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Arizona, and the two nods from cops are making it more difficult for Republicans to paint him as an anti-police radical. DINO stampede: Democrat Amish Shah is officially running for Congress — again — in a crowded Democratic primary to take on Republican David Schweikert — again, per the Republic’s Laura Gersony. And he’s racked up endorsements from former Republican state lawmakers Rusty Bowers, Regina Cobb and Joel John. Meanwhile, Democratic U.S. Rep. Greg Stanton got put in charge of the campaign wing of the “New Democrat Coalition,” a moderate, pro-business group of Democrats. (May 14, 2025)

Playing favorites: Former Democratic state Rep. Amish Shah made clear during a debate this week that he’s pissed at national Democrats for openly supporting his Democratic rival in Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, per the Republic’s Laura Gersony. Shah says party “insiders” are putting their thumb on the scale for Marlene Galán-Woods, a former reporter and widow of former Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods. For her part, Galán-Woods chastised Shah for not committing to support the primary winner in the general election. (June 11, 2026)
